French bean Safari is a dwarf variety and is also known as ‘Green Bean’, ‘Kenyan Bean’, ‘Bobby Bean’ or ‘Fine Bean’. This late maturing bush type bean produces lots of 10cm long skinny round, string-less, dark green pods.

When to Sow

March to July
March to May sowing's can be done under glass and kept above 12°C. 2-3 seeds per large modular cell, slowly harden off after third week in May after all frosts have finished. Sow outdoors late May 2-3 seeds 5cm deep and 30cm apart.

Growing Outdoor

Plant modular grown seedlings 30cm apart in well drained soil/compost in full sun but sheltered position.  Keep well watered until established and in dry weather. Must protect from the frost.


June onwards once pods have reached 10cm long before the beans start to develop.
